Conquest and expansionism are themes that pervade all historical eras. Individual and societies have always sought to advance themselves, be it politically, socially or economically. Such ambition can manifest itself in peaceful endeavours, but it can also engender conflict. This important topic will be the subject of the 5th Annual Conference of the York History Research Society. We hope to bring together postgraduates from all aspects of history to join us in a stimulating debates on these issues.
This is a postgraduate-run conference which aims to foster collaborative engagement between research students. The event, including lunch, refreshments and a drinks reception, will be free of charge. All are welcome.
