The recent 102nd Global Health Histories seminar ‘Strengthening Universal Health Coverage for the fight against Anti-Microbial Resistance’ has been featured in Sri Lanka’s The Island. The article covers the background to the issue, the efforts to combat AMR, and conclusions and recommendations of the seminar's pannellists. You can read the full feature online, on The Island’s website.
The seminar itself took place on 7th September at the Kingsbury Hotel in Colombo. It traced the inter-connections between reform in Universal Health Coverage and Sri Lanka’s role in expanding the United Nations and the World Health Organization. Panellists considered the challenges facing the provision of high quality, free healthcare to all; the financial, political and health challenges posed by AMR; and the need for novel health financing strategies to change pharmaceutical and antibiotics supply and usage. The recordings of this event are now available online via CGHH’s YouTube channel.
