CGHH Co-Director co-ordinates Face Equality Week campaign

Posted on 25 September 2020

Led by prominent charities Changing Faces and Face Equality International, Face Equality Week took place from 18-22 May, 2020.

The face equality movement ties with some of the core themes of the AboutFace project, run by CGHH co-director Dr Fay Bound Alberti. Connecting with this international campaign, AboutFace published a series of blogs throughout the week. Five blogs were contributed by guest authors including reflections on Face Equality during the Covid-19 pandemic by actor and campaigner Adam Pearson, and a brief history of the Face Equality movement by James Partridge. One further blog was written by project researcher Victoria Hoyle, touching on emotion, lived experience and caring as methodological aspects of the AboutFace project.

The blogs touched on different aspects of face equality and were well received by a broad audience. Each is available to read on the AboutFace website, beginning with ‘Face Equality Week’ by Adam Pearson.

AboutFace is led by CGHH co-Director Fay Bound Alberti and is funded by a UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship. AboutFace explores the cultural and emotional history of face transplants and facial difference.
