Sanjoy Bhattacharya (Professor in the History of Medicine in the Department of History and Director of CGHH at the University of York), has been invited to sit on the Wellcome Trust’s Medical Humanities Expert Review Group for Investigator and Collaborative Awards. As part of this group Professor Bhattacharya joins Professor Stuart Murray (Chair) (School of English, University of Leeds), Professor Steven Connor (Faculty of English, University of Cambridge), Professor Sophie Day (Department of Anthropology, Goldsmiths, University of London), Professor Jeremy Greene (Institute of the History of Medicine, The Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, USA), Professor Jane Macnaughton (Centre for Medical Humanities, Durham University), Professor Hilary Marland (Department of History, University of Warwick). To select the best research proposals and fund the best researchers, the Wellcome Trust depends on committees - including Expert Review Groups, Interview Committees, Selection Panels and scheme-specific committees - to review grant applications and make funding recommendations. Members are drawn from leading universities, research institutes, pharma and biotech companies, and policy organisations, within the UK and internationally.
