An update on the CGHH Director’s recent external activity.

Professor Sanjoy Bhattacharya, Director of the Centre for Global Health Histories and Professor in the History of Medicine in the Department of History at the University of York, has recently joined the Panel of Advisors for the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission.

The Commission awards more than 900 scholarships and fellowships for postgraduate study and professional development to Commonwealth citizens every year. The CSC aims to contribute to the UK’s international development aims and wider overseas interests, support excellence in UK higher education, and sustain the principles of the Commonwealth. Candidates are selected on the basis of merit and their potential to contribute to the needs of their home countries.

The Commission’s academic advisors play a critical role in the processes of scholarship selection. The CSC relies on academics who are outstanding in their fields to advise on all manner of subject areas in order to facilitate scholarships for the best and brightest Commonwealth students.
