This seminar will explore the ‘crossroads’ of history, political systems and economic contexts across low and middle-income countries to discuss how health system financing policies and programmes are developed and implemented, and how such interactions influence performance of the specific interventions. Panellists will use examples drawn from the Eastern Mediterranean region and beyond to reflect on these issues, and will consider how they impact the drive for universal health coverage.
