This seminar will discuss the importance of community health workers in the context of Primary Health Care and the unrealized ambition of Health for All and Universal Health Coverage. Drawing on an overview of the historical trajectory of these programmes, and on fieldwork in Brazil, Dr Joao Nunes (University of York, UK) will reflect on the challenges and potential pitfalls of the mobilization of community health workers. This will be followed by responses and additional commentary from University of Zimbabwe, WHO Zimbabwe and Zimbabwe Health Ministry representatives.
Location: Diamond Lecture Theatre, Main Campus, University of Zimbabwe
