Samantha Niederman

Graduate Teaching Assistant

Samantha Niederman is a PhD candidate at the University of York under the supervision of Elizabeth Prettejohn. Her research examines modernist still lifes and landscapes by Frances Hodgkins and Cedric Morris and will also consider their positioning in 'English' Modernism, raising questions about identity that push beyond nationalistic ideas of the pastoral landscape. Before commencing her research, Samantha served as Curatorial Assistant to the Education and American Art Departments at the Norton Museum of Art in Florida.  She received a MA in Preventive Conservation from University College of London, a MLitt in the History of Art from the University of Glasgow and a BA in the History of Art & Architecture from Boston University.
