Parshati Dutta

Graduate Teaching Assistant

Parshati is a second-year PhD candidate under the supervision of Dr Richard P. McClary. She is funded by the YGRS Overseas Research Scholarship and is investigating matronage and agency in 17th century CE architectural projects of Mughal imperial women.

Parshati graduated in Architecture from Jadavpur University, Kolkata and holds a Master’s degree, also in Architecture, with specialism in Theory and Design from CEPT University, Ahmedabad. She has been engaged with the field of architectural heritage and conservation, primarily through research, with organisations such as UNESCO, ICOMOS India, Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage, Sahapedia, India Foundation for the Arts, and Cultural Resource Conservation Initiative India. She has also held a permanent position as Assistant Professor at the Sushant School of Art and Architecture where she co- directed the academic track of Architectural Theory and Methods. Her research interests include Islamic architecture of the Indian subcontinent, 20th century British colonial architecture, cultural routes and travel infrastructure, gendered spaces, and built heritage and conflict.
