Miguel Angel Gaete is currently a PhD candidate at The University of York working under the supervision of Professor Liz Prettejohn. His thesis looks at the German Romanticism and the imbrication between sciences and arts in explorer artists who journeyed throughout South America in the nineteenth century. His broader research and pedagogical interests include the aesthetic theory of the sublime and its impact on contemporary visual arts, urbanism and architecture.
Dr Gaete completed an MA in advanced studies in History of Art at Universidad de Barcelona, Spain. He also holds a first PhD in Philosophy (aesthetic) obtained at Universidad Autonoma de Madrid. Among his achievements is the obtaining of several scholarships, a solid academic career in South American universities, presentations in international congresses and publications in academic journals and books in countries such as Canada, Chile, Spain, and Brazil.
