Marte Stinis is a third-year PhD candidate supervised by Professor Elizabeth Prettejohn, working on the influence of music on the artistic practice of Aestheticism in Victorian Britain. Marte completed her BA in History of Art at the University of Leiden, the Netherlands, and an MA at the Courtauld Institute of Art, London. Her wider research interests include correlations between the arts, the notion of abstraction in painting, and the importance of recurrent themes and historiography for the construction of art.
