Amanda Doviak

Graduate Teaching Assistant

Amanda completed her BA in History of Art and Architecture at Boston University and an MA in History of Art at York, before beginning her PhD thesis, supervised by Professor Jane Hawkes. Her thesis examines the interplay between the sacred and secular figural iconographies of Anglo-Scandinavian stone crosses of the Northern Danelaw, produced between the late ninth and tenth centuries. In her research into the dialogue between sacred and secular imagery on these crosses, Amanda explores the transmission of iconographies, stylistic motifs and processes of production through global and regional artistic networks, and their translation(s) between different media.
