Bestowed each year by the Pre-Raphaelite Society, the international body dedicated to the study of the lives and art of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, the prestigious award attracts entries from all over the world. The winning essay, entitled ‘Four Flowers and a Funeral’ gives an alternative perspective on Dante Gabriel Rossetti’s final resting place, focusing on the contextual symbolism of the flowers growing naturally near his grave on the day of his funeral in 1882. Along with the honour, Julie’s essay will be published in the Spring edition of the PRS Review; she will receive a substantial cash prize and has been invited to lecture at a forthcoming Society meeting.
Many congratulations to Julie!
