The Singer, exhibited 1889 and Applause, 1893, Edward Onslow Ford

His research looks at how the two sculptures work as a pair, examining the context of their reception in late Victorian Britain, a time of great interest in Ancient Egypt, and also considers their depiction of the female adolescent body when the age of consent had only recently been raised to sixteen.  You can read the piece in full here.
