Accepting or declining an interview
If you are have trouble logging in to accept or decline the interview, please try copying and pasting the web page link and the username and password into a laptop or PC instead of using a hand held device.
If you are still experiencing difficulty logging in to your You@York account, we have a helpful webpage which includes information on what to do if you have forgotten your username or password: http://www.york.ac.uk/study/you-at-york/help/.
If you cannot attend please let us know as soon as possible. We can then offer you another interview and offer your original place to another applicant. If you do not attend or contact us, we will assume that you are no longer interested in a place at the University of York.
The interview
Our Nursing and Midwifery selection days take place in person in our department and you will be invited to a morning or afternoon session.
- Please remember to bring official photo ID with you and your UCAS number.
- The nursing interviews will start with a short presentation and an outline of how the day will work.
- For nursing, there will be a Multiple Mini Interview session and a group activity. For Midwifery, there will be a structured panel interview with two interviewers. You will be allocated a time slot for this interview in advance.
- Midwifery candidates will be emailed a pre-recorded presentation a week before your interview which will provide key information about the midwifery programme. If you have further questions about studying midwifery at York, you can ask these to the panel members at the interview.
- For nursing interviews only - you may use your mobile phone in the group activity (this is not graded, it is an opportunity for you to interact with others).
- For both nursing and midwifery interviews, you will also spend some time in our Clinical Simulation Unit, where you will have the chance to chat with current students.
- We may have some final year students, practitioners and service users involved in interviews. Please be assured no one is privy to any confidential information and you do not need to declare this to anyone at this stage.
- Refreshments will be available for you and anyone accompanying you for the nursing interviews.
- We want you to feel welcome, to relax and enjoy the day as much as you can.
