Interest in research studies employing the incremental implementation and evaluation of an intervention (stepped wedge design) has gathered momentum over recent years. We are therefore pleased to announce the first international conference on the stepped wedge study design. The conference aims to bring together practitioners, researchers and methodologists to share ideas, best practice and challenges for the design, implementation and analysis of the stepped wedge model. We are hoping for this conference to become an annual event allowing anyone interested in this design to stay at the forefront of knowledge about its methodology and application as well as connect with other experts in the field.
The conference will be held over one day on Thursday, 10 March 2016 at the Department of Health Sciences, University of York, UK. It is organised by Professor David Torgerson (York Trials Unit), Dr Mona Kanaan (York Trials Unit), Dr Noreen Mdege (Mental Health and Addiction Research Group) and Ada Keding (York Trials Unit).
The conference will commence with a keynote address given by Professor Richard Lilford from the University of Warwick, followed by invited presentations from national and international speakers on a range of aspects of the stepped wedge design. Confirmed invited speakers are Dr Karla Hemming and Professor Jim Huhges, University of Washington. Posters on the subject will be displayed all day.
Abstract submission has now closed. The planning committee will award prizes for best contributed presentation and poster. View the provisional conference programme (PDF , 252kb).
Registration for the conference will open on 1 October 2015, the early bird rate has now closed. Lunch and refreshments will be provided as part of the registration.
