Adewumi Ajayi
Associate Lecturer, Practice Learning



Wumi trained as a General Nurse and Midwife in Nigeria. She also holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Nutrition. She worked in various specialties including Neurosciences, Obstetrics and Paediatrics at the University College Hospital, Ibadan.

She joined the NHS in 2005 and worked in both the acute and community settings in 2 Neonatal units, Ophthalmology Day unit, and as a Specialist Nurse in sickle cell and thalassaemia. As part of her continuous professional development she has completed different modules including Communication and Counselling, Neonatal Intensive care, Neonatal High Dependency and Special care and the Mentor Preparation Programme.

She is one of the Associate Lecturers supporting nursing students in clinical practice.

External activities


Invited talks and conferences

  • Presented a paper on a project that she led on the impact of living with a long term condition on the educational achievements of young people at the annual conference of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) in 2013.
