Rhian is a Reader in Clinical Trials at the Hull York Medical School based at York Trials Unit, Department of Health Sciences, University of York. She graduated in Mathematics and first gained experience in the field of clinical trials in 1996 when she worked for the MRC in Cambridge. Rhian joined HYMS in April 2012 from London, where she had been a Senior Scientist for the MRC Clinical Trials Unit.
As a statistician Rhian has had a large portfolio of trials and epidemiological work and maintains a particular research interest in the field of cancer. Her work involves bringing together the knowledge of a range of experts from different specialisations to help identify and answer key research questions through the design and conduct new studies. Rhian then provides statistical and project oversight of these studies.
Rhian's research interests include cancer, primary care, screening, diagnosis and imaging. Projects include screening for breast cancer, clinical trials and associated studies in testicular cancer, prostate cancer and glioma, smoking prevention in TB patients.
Rhian's research interests lie in trials methodology, epidemiology, cancer screening, imaging and treatments, wounds research and survival analysis.
