Biography

Helen is a Research Fellow and Trial Co-ordinator in the Trials and Statistics group, Department of Health Sciences.  She has been a member of the York Trials Unit since 2007 and has managed mainly trials evaluating complementary therapy interventions such as yoga, acupuncture and Alexander Technique for a range conditions.

Research

Overview

Helen’s main interests are holistic interventions for physical and mental health. She has managed trials evaluating yoga, acupuncture and Alexander technique for musculoskeletal conditions and a gut disorder. Helen also has a research interest in patient preferences in randomised controlled trials.

  • CPIT III - The Smoking Cessation in Pregnancy Incentives Trial: A multi-centre phase III Randomised Controlled Trial
  • Gentle Years Yoga (GYY) - Individually randomised controlled, two arm, pragmatic, multi-centre trial to determine the clinical and cost-effectiveness of an adapted yoga programme for older adults with multimorbidity
