Profile

Biography

Abisola is a Research Fellow with the Diabetes and Mental Illness Improving Services and Outcomes (DIAMONDS) team in the Mental Health and Addiction Group (MHARG) at the University of York's Department of Health Sciences. Her background is in Public Health and she has worked in different capacities as an HIV tester and counsellor, an in-process monitor for the polio eradication initiative organized by World Health Organization and as an HIV peer educator trainer in the USA, UK and Nigeria. She completed her PhD at the University of Sheffield, where she explored the healthcare experiences of HIV positive Men who have sex with Men living in Nigeria using qualitative research methods.

Abisola’s research interests include but are not limited to mental health and diabetes, sexual and reproductive health and addictions. Her methodological interests include qualitative research and systematic reviewing methods.
