Biography

Dr. Truzaar Dordi is a lecturer in Sustainability Management at the University of York, UK – working in the fields of climate finance, energy policy, and sustainability transitions. He holds a PhD in Sustainability Management from the University of Waterloo, Canada, and held an Aspiration 2030 Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Victoria, Canada.

Truzaar’s research uncovers the interconnected and complementary roles industry, policy, and capital markets play in contributing to both climate instability and solutions to climate change. 

His core research investigates low-carbon economic transitions through the lens of fossil fuel divestment, equity ownership, stranded assets, and climate policy. His research has been published in high-impact and transdisciplinary journals such as Environmental Innovation and Societal Transitions, Energy Research and Social Science, Climatic Change, and the Journal of Sustainable Finance and Investment. His work has also garnered international acclaim, featured in news articles and podcasts with New Scientist, Macleans Magazine, USA Today, Euronews, National Observer, and Carbon Brief, among others.

At the University of York, Truzaar is the Program Lead for the MSc in Sustainable Business, Environment, and Society. He teaches modules on Introduction to Sustainable Business, Change Management, and Sustainable Business Innovation.

Truzaar serves as the Director of Partnerships and Engagement for the Department of Environment and Geography. Previously, he served as the Vice President for the Canadian Society for Ecological Economics and as a member of the University of Waterloo’s Responsible Investing Advisory Group. He is also recognized as a Corporate Knights "30 Under 30 Sustainability Leader" and Canadian “Clean50 Emerging Sustainability Leader”.
