Departmental roles

Nancy is the department's Industry Liaison Officer whose role involves interacting with external organisations who are interested in internships and placement opportunities for York Environment students.  Contact Nancy if you have any questions relating to external engagement whether you are a York Environment student or from an external organisation.  

Nancy holds a PhD from the University of Nottingham in the area of Plant Biotechnology and has worked at the University of York in an administrative role since 2007, joining the Department of Environment and Geography in August 2014.

Key duties

Year in Industry Programme
  • Managing our Year in Industry programme including acting at the point of contact between host organisations and the University, sourcing placements and carrying out the required risk assessments, assisting students in their applications and supporting them and their academic supervisors during the whole placement process.  

Summer internships and work placements
  • Assisting students source and apply for summer internships.

  • Working with local employers to increase the number of environmental placements available through the University’s Student Internship Bureau.

Alumni Engagement
  • Acting as the central point of contact within the Environment Department for our alumni.

External Engagement Events
  • Working with colleagues in the department to deliver events involving external organisations.

Employability Coordinator
  • Working with Careers at the University of York to assist students to develop their employability.

Member of the AUA (Association of University Administrators).

  • Monday: 08:00 - 16:00

  • Tuesday: 09:30 - 15:00

  • Wednesday: 08:00 - 16:00

  • Thursday: 09:30 - 15:00

  • Friday: 10:30 - 16:00
