Profile

Biography

I am currently a Commonwealth Postdoctoral Fellow here in the University of York, UK. I am a Lecturer and researcher in the Department of Surveying and Geoinformatics, Faculty of Engineering, University of Lagos. I had my Ph.D. in Ecology and Environmental Science with expertise in Space Applications, Remote Sensing and Geographical Information System in 2013 and my M. Sc. in Environmental Control and Management in 2008, both from the Obafemi Awolowo University. My B. Sc. is in Geography in 2004 from the University of Jos. I trained in the United Nations’ African Regional Centre for Space Science Education-English (ARCSSTEE) in Remote Sensing and GIS Operations in 2008. And also in the Faculty of Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation, University of Twente, Netherlands in Remote Sensing and Digital Image Processing in 2012

I have received some Awards and a member of some professional bodies that include: IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society, Asia-Pacific Chemical, Biological and Environmental Engineering Society (APCBEES) Senior Member, African Association of Remote Sensing of the Environment (AARSE), American Geophysical Union (AGU), Nigeria Association of University Women (NAUW).

I have been involved in a number of projects at regional, national and local levels; some of which includes: USGS, CLISS, AGRHYMET Regional Centre Project on Mapping Land Use Land Cover and Best Practices for the West Africa Region, (2011-2016); Facilitator/Trainer, African Monitoring for Sustainable Development (AMESD) in the ECOWAS region, African Union Commission, ECOWAS and AGRHYMET Regional Centre Project, (2010-2012); Edo State Project for DSI Integrated Service Ltd. on  Needs Assessment and GAP Analysis of Master Plan-Plan-Based Project in the Niger  Delta Region. Client: Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC. (2010); Co-Consultant on Environmental Impact Assessment for Various Projects with some oil companies, in BFM Consult, Lagos State (2006-2009) to mention a few.

I am currently a Regional Member, International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing’s IC WG IV/III: Global mapping: updating, verification and interoperability, Germany.

Overview

My teaching and research interests focus on the geospatial analysis of ecology and environment, remote sensing and geographical information system applications, environmental impact of oil spill on the ecosystem, Land use Land cover disturbances and dynamics, ecology and environmental monitoring and management; and currently integrating climate models.
