Biography

I am a year 12 student at Fulford School in York currently studying Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Geography. 

I am currently undertaking work experience from school at the university for a week.  The type of work I undertake will hopefully help me decide what I want to do at university. During the next 12 months I will be visiting universities to decide where I want to study.

Matthew's key responsibilities include 

  • Experience the management of a complex mixed teaching and research building.
  • Use a content management system to make a web page.
  • Maintenance and upkeep of a total organic carbon analyser.
  • Physico chemical analysis of environmental samples.
  • Introduction to and use of complex analytial equipment; GC-MS, HPLC, Ion chromatography.
  • Assistance with environmental geography research labs including foram and pollen analysis, handling of soil core and field equipment management.
  • Repair, maintenance and instruction in flight of an autonomous GPS assisted quadcopter.
  • Advice on the handling and disposal of hazardous laboratory chemicals.
