Dickens Discovery

Professor John Bowen, a world-leading expert on Dickens, has uncovered new evidence about Charles Dickens’ tumultuous personal life.

98 letters, held at Harvard University, reveal a new aspect of Dickens’ troubled marriage, finally giving us his wife’s side of the story, including Dickens’ shocking attempt to have his wife incarcerated as insane. Professor Bowen’s discover has received widespread media attention, including in The TLS, The Times, The New York Times and on Radio 4’s The Today Programme.
