Year 2 student Chris Owen is Critic of the Year.

The winners of the 2015 Guardian Student Media Awards were announced at a ceremony on Tuesday 1 December 2015. We are delighted to announce that Year 2 student Chris Owen has won this year's Guardian Student Media Awards Critic of the Year, and MA in Fllm and Literature student Alfie Packham is runner-up - see Student Media Awards 2015: winners' gallery.

The awards, which are judged by a panel of journalists from across the industry, recognise the country’s most talented students planning to enter the journalism and media industries.

For the last 36 years the Guardian Student Media Awards have sought out the best student writers, designers, broadcasters, editors, and photographers. They are well known for helping kick-start careers for promising young journalists.  The focus of the awards is to discover and promote these talented individuals as well as reward and celebrate their excellent work.
