Start the Conversation: Decolonising and Diversifying the Curriculum at York

Wednesday 30 October 2019, 1.00PM to 3.00pm

Hosted by YUSU student groups and GSA, this event will be an opportunity for students and staff to engage with the decolonising and diversifying the curriculum in Higher Education debate.

Despite the viral media attention around campaigns such as ‘Why is My Curriculum White?', which was founded at University College London and promoted by the NUS, decolonising and diversifying curricula is still a relatively marginal agenda at the University of York and beyond.

If you’ve ever wondered why your curriculum is dominated by white, Western, male and straight authors; why there is a lack of diversity among staff and students at York; or why attainment is lower for BAME students than their white counterparts, this event is for you.
