A Quiet Passion

Tuesday 5 March 2019, 4.30PM

With commendable subtlety and attention to period detail, Davies shows Dickinson to be a woman keenly aware of the tensions within her country and her family.  The film explores the detached, ironic persona she created to deal with these strains to become the poet who speaks to the 21st century as powerfully and as enigmatically as she spoke to the 19th.
