Owenvarragh: A Belfast Circus on 'The Star Factory'

Thursday 27 June 2013, 7.30PM

Inspired by the score written by John Cage for his piece 'Roaratorio: An Irish Circus on Finnegan’s Wake', Úna Monaghan and Martin Dowling have collaborated to bring to life Ciaran Carson's enigmatic memoir of Belfast, The Star Factory.  Carson will read chance-determined poems drawn from his novel, while sound recordings are projected in three dimensions.  Projected images derived from the book and live performances by noted Belfast based traditional musicians complete the 'circus'.

  • Ciaran Carson (recitation)
  • Davy Maguire (flute/whistle)
  • Martin Dowling (fiddle)
  • Úna Monaghan (harp/concertina)
  • Éamonn Ó Faogáin (voice)

  • Set Design by Ita Monaghan
  • Produced and Directed by Úna Monaghan and Martin Dowling
