Junfei Qiu, one of David Grace's 3rd-Year PhD students, has won the second prize of the Doctoral Researcher Awards (DRA) 2020 in the Engineering Sciences category in September.

The Doctoral Researcher Awards is a UK-wide academic competition, awarded annually to young researchers who are pursuing (or have recently completed) doctoral degrees in the UK. It has been organised annually since 2012.

This year, the DRA received over 240 applications from more than 40 universities in the UK, split into 3 categories: Natural and Life Sciences, Management and Social Sciences, and Engineering Sciences. Finalists presented their research online before a large audience of academics and students during the award ceremony which took place on 12 September 2020.

Based on the presentation, three places for each category are selected by the committee. Junfei obtained the second place in Engineering Sciences.
