Dr David Chesmore talks to the BBC Radio 4 Today programme

Dr David Chesmore from the Department of Electronic Engineering has been interviewed by the BBC for the Radio 4 Today programme about using acoustics to detect furniture beetle in furniture in National Trust properties. The interview will be broadcast on Thursday 22 June 2017.

Dr Chesmore’s research focusses on the application of electronic and computing technology to the detection and automated identification of insects using bioacoustics and image processing. In addition to heritage conservation which is the topic of the BBC item, his research has application in agriculture and horticulture for early detection of pest species to id integrated pest management.
