To what extent can the use of story provide the basis for an effective English Language Learning Programme for 5 to 11 year old French students learning English as a foreign language?

This research constitutes a five year longitudinal study (including a one year Pilot Project) involving a Case Study Group of 7 students in a primary school in France. Students' progress in EFL obtained through general programmes and general methods in use is measured against those results of students taught through the use of story. Results of both methods of teaching and learning are compared in relation to the requirements of the French Ministry of Education which have been developed according to the A1 standard of the Common European Framework for second/foreign language acquisition.
