Citizenship education

Research in the field of citizenship education is concerned with the ways in which people are helped to understand contemporary society and develop the skills and dispositions relevant to participation. A common characterisation of citizenship includes consideration of political literacy, identities, community involvement and social and moral responsibility. We are interested in citizenship in a wide range of educational contexts including work that is formal, non-formal and informal in school, university and community based contexts, within and across national boundaries regarding issues of policy and practice in academic and professional contexts including teacher education.
