Equal opportunity in entry to education is an important concern in relation to social justice, particularly as education is associated with economic outcomes, democratic participation and personal well-being. Our research covers access to education in a range of contexts, including refugee education and education in post-conflict situations, as well as access to formal educational settings. We have conducted projects on the take-up of post-compulsory science, entry to higher education and progression to taught postgraduate and doctoral studies. We also pursue research on attainment and achievement across different groups, and questions of systematic bias.
