Why did you decide to train as a teacher?

I really enjoyed being at school myself and enjoy learning. I wanted a job which helps people to learn and help them to do the best they possibly can in their lives

Why did you choose to train with the University of York?

I did my undergraduate degree in York and really enjoyed living in the city so didn't want to move away. Also, with University of York being a highly ranked university I thought that a PGCE from York would be very well valued and may help me to get the job I want.

What have been particular highlights of your training so far?

I have really enjoyed getting into school and starting to get to know the different classes and the pupils in the school. To see that 'light bulb moment' in pupils makes it a really rewarding job.

What advice would you give to current University of York undergraduates in your subject area who are thinking of teaching and considering doing their training at York?

It's definitely a good way to stay within the subject area that you love, being able to teach other people all the facts you already know and to help to broaden their understanding of the world.
