Profile

Biography

I joined the department in September 2018 as School Partnership Facilitator. I contribute across the PGCE programme, supporting trainees in schools, working with secondary schools to further develop our partnership, delivering Whole School Initiatives CPD sessions and also supporting ITT mentors within schools.

Career

Prior to joining the University of York I spent ten years working as a secondary school teacher in Yorkshire. I was lucky enough to work in two high performing schools teaching a range of courses including GCSE and A level RE, Sociology, PSHE, Citizenship and General Studies. I have worked both as a Head of Department and also an Advanced Skills Teacher/Lead Practitioner focussing on improving the quality of teaching and learning across the curriculum.

Throughout my career I have worked with trainees from a wide range of HEI’s in the North of England and really enjoy guiding and supporting them as they embark on their early teaching careers. I also very much enjoy being in the classroom and hope that my enthusiasm for teaching and learning helps trainees as they join this exciting profession.
