We are recruiting new PhD students in Economics for the next academic year (2019/20), and some PhD studentships are available:
Departmental Studentships are available to Home, EU and Overseas students and have a value of GBP 18K per year for a duration of three years. Students who hold a Departmental Studentship are expected to pay their own fees. The relevant tuition fee is paid directly from the scholarship fund, and students receive the remaining balance as a stipend.There are 4 Departmental Studentships available in 2019/20.
The White Rose Doctoral Training Partnership is offering different types of ESRC studentships for students starting a PhD (+3 PhD only) and for students starting a Master followed by a PhD (1+3 Master plus PhD).
UK applicants will be eligible for a full award to cover tuition fees and maintenance, EU applicants are eligible only for an award to cover tuition fees (except for the Advanced Qualitative Methods Awards which covers both tuition and maintenance), while non-EU applicants are not eligible.

We have a number of studentships available, some of which are funded by the ESRC whilst others are funded by the Department of Economics (see the Studentships tab).
We encourage strong candidates from any field in Economics and Statistics to apply for both the WR DTC ESRC studentships and the departmental studentships.
We encourage strong candidates with the intention to work in the field of empirical analysis of economic problems with large scale data to also apply for the WR DTC ESRC studentships in Advanced Quantitative Methods.
