Our Department is ranked top 100 in the world and top 10 in the UK
The Tilburg Ranking is an international ranking based on publications in 35 leading economics, econometrics and finance journals over a 5-year period, currently 2012-2016. Since its first publication in 2004, Tilburg Ranking has been widely and well recognised as a solid ranking due to its methodology and transparency. It also provides a tool to rank schools over different time periods and subsets of economics journals. Taking the entire period of 2000-2016, our York Economics is still world top 100 and UK top 10.
This excellent news confirms our ambition to achieve and sustain the position of a leading international research-led economics department. With around 50 academics engaged in research, we have well-recognised research strengths in areas with critical mass, which have developed out of long-established contributions in the Department especially in microeconomic theory, macroeconomics, econometrics and health economics.
