The new national panel dataset, Understanding Society: the UK Household Longitudinal Study (UKHLS), provides a unique opportunity to draw together the different strands of his earlier work on health equity and to develop a collaboration with the multidisciplinary team who manage the dataset. The proposed project will embed new biosocial data within a unified ethical framework of equity of opportunity in health and focus on the ways in which early life circumstances and education shape lifetime inequality of opportunity in health and the pathways through which this happens.
