Communal areas
Our common rooms are spaces for postgraduate students to relax in. As well as comfy seating, you’ll find a variety of other amenities.
All members of Wentworth Graduate College are entitled and encouraged to use our two common rooms, and the nearby study spaces.
Off-campus students can either register for facilities access or email wentworth@york.ac.uk.
College managed spaces
Wentworth Graduate Common Room (GCR) and Games Room
Located in room W/024, the GCR is open 24 hours a day to all postgraduates.
Perfect for getting together for a few games, socialising and more noisy activities, inside you’ll find: a table tennis table, darts board, electronic pianos, electronic drums, games consoles, board games, cross trainer and TV with a selection of films.
A PS4, SNES classic, and Mahjong set can be signed out from Wentworth Reception.
Wentworth Senior Common Room (SCR)
Located in room W/135, Wentworth SCR is also open to all postgraduates 24 hours a day.
The SCR is a comfy space, suitable for quiet socialising, study, refreshments and informal meetings. It’s also the area that the College Team use as a kitchen space.
Inside you’ll find free tea and coffee facilities, a dishwasher, sink, fridge, microwave and a hot water boiler.
Booking a common room
Wentworth common rooms are only bookable for activities open to all postgraduates - eg college events, careers events, GSA events. We do not allow societies or departments to book the spaces for exclusive access.
Postgraduate Community Space
We can host postgraduate activities in the spacious Postgraduate Community Space, an accessible area with comfortable seating and a flat 'dancefloor' area. The space is available to book 9am to 8pm Monday to Friday.

Wentworth Lending Library
You can borrow anything from sports equipment, board games, books, to a classical guitar, a violin and Sennheiser headphones from our College Lending Library.

Desk Space is available to book in W/N/124b between 9am to 11pm Monday to Friday.

Wentworth Breakout Room
The breakout space is available to book in W/N/129 between 9am to 11pm Monday to Friday. This is a great space for meetings or discussion groups.

Non College managed spaces
Art Studios
The Studio is situated on the ground floor of the College Nucleus in W/N/023, W/N/024 . They are managed by YUSU and the Art Society. For more information, visit their Wentworth Art Studios Facebook group or contact the Art Society: artsociety@yusu.org.
Dixon Drama Theatre
The Dixon Drama Theatre is situated on the ground floor of the College Nucleus and is managed by the Department of TFTI. It hosts regular plays and performances throughout the year. Wentworth Graduate College hosts a few of our regular college events here like Taekwondo, Zumba and Yoga.
Prayer Room
The Prayer Room is located in W/N/029 on the lower ground floor corridor in the College Nucleus. This room is available to anyone seeking a quiet space for contemplation, reflection or prayer.
The prayer room is a university-wide resource so is available to all university students. Contact wentworth@york.ac.uk to request access to the room.
