James Lodge is located in the heart of the college, next to N Block and opposite the Roger Kirk Centre. It is open during the daytime, and in the evenings it hosts events for James students.
The lodge houses two common rooms - one large space with seating and TVs, and a smaller space with a free-to-use Playstation4 and board/card games table.
There is a small quiet study room with network client computers and space to read.
There is a kitchen with kettle, microwave, toaster, fridge and lockers. All our students are encouraged to make use of the kitchen, particular our off-campus residents.
The lodge is also home to all our college staff offices upstairs, and the JCRC office downstairs.
The garden is a great space, and is always available for our students to enjoy.
In addition to the space in the Lodge, the Lakeside Common Room (in ABC Quad) is accessible 24/7 by residents. It contains a large TV and seating, as well as a small kitchen area. It can be booked by contacting the College Administrator. It cannot be booked at weekends, when it remains open to be used by everyone.
There are two launderettes - one next to the bike sheds behind F block, and one near N Block. On arrival you will need to purchase a Circit Laundry top-up card and register it online to James College accommodation. This can then be topped up online throughout the year and can be used for both washer and dryer facilities. Access to launderettes is available at all times.
The RKC contains our huge dining hall, as well as a Costa Coffee outlet and The Lounge Bar (open in the evenings). First Year residents eat breakfast and dinner here Monday-Friday in term time, but it is also open at lunchtimes - as well as breakfast and dinner times - for anyone to use (paying with cash or card).
We also use the RKC for large college events, in particular the first night of Freshers' Week, when it is transformed into a large party venue with a theme chosen by our Freshers!
James Reception is open 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. They manage all of your post, keys, noise problems, and they are first aid trained. They can also contact for you security if needed.
James College has outdoor barbeque places which accommodate disposable trays. These trays are to be disposed of safely after use. The barbeques are not bookable and you can use them at any time.
