2012 entry

My motivation is more aligned with basic research than applied. I am more excited by exploring new areas and finding novel links between previously unrelated processes or fields. For example, I am fascinated by the developing field of RNA research, particularly long non-coding RNAs.

Background

I originally studied physics at undergraduate level, but was fortunately able to take several courses in cell biology and biochemistry. These convinced me that biological research was more exciting than experimental physics, and so I proceeded to a Masters in systems biology. This introduced me to the challenges of computational modelling in biology, and led me to apply to CIDCATS.
