With an increasing proportion of the world's population living in large urban centres, commonly referred to as megacities, air pollution in these areas is having a large impact on quality of life and health. I am interested in the study of high carbon number volatile organic compounds (VOCs) using comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography (GC×GC) in urban and remote atmospheres. These VOCs are predominately emitted from diesel vehicles and are typically not well represented in emissions inventories or air quality models. I have participated in over 5 atmospheric science field projects typically in urban megacity locations such as London and Beijing.
