Senior Research Fellow & B2M2 TP Leader

Dr Vitaliy Budarin graduated from Taras Shevchenko University (Kiev, Ukraine ) in 1983 and obtained a doctorate from the same university in 1986 for his work on carbonyl clusters as red-ox catalysts. From 1996 until 2002 he was a lecturer of Physical Chemistry at Taras Shevchenko University. Since 2002, he has worked as a post-doctorate at the Green Chemistry Centre of Excellence. Currently, his main research interests are in the area of carbonaceous material chemistry, surface properties of porous materials, adsorption, heterogeneous catalysis and thermal properties of biopolymer. Recently, this work has resulted in the discovery of a new type of mesoporous carbonaceous materials (Starbons®) with tuneable functionality, and he is now Principal Scientist for the spin-out company Starbon Technologies Ltd. Dr Vitaly Budarin is author of more than 130 publications and five patents.
