Speaker(s): Dr Jane Murray, Merck
The fourth in a series of workshops covering Sustainable Manufacturing for the Chemical Industry from a number of multidisciplinary viewpoints, this workshop will be delivered by Dr Jane Murray, Head of Green Chemistry at Merck.
The life science business of Merck interacts with the global chemical community every day and we aim to use our position to significantly increase the implementation of Green Chemistry. This session will discuss how the positioning and promotion of Green Chemistry products is critical to their successful uptake. During the presentation, we will outline the key tools that we have developed, including DOZN™, an industry first quantitative green chemical analysis system that enables scientists to easily select the greenest product for their application. We will explorethe employment of key publications and conferences in order to highlight sustainable products and tools. During the workshop, participants will plan the commercialisation of a hypothetical green solvent, developed at the University of York's GCCE. Participants will brainstorm how to position the product in the marketplace and develop a strategic marketing plan.
