Mentoring is an important part of career progression in academia.
To ensure that all staff are given the best chance to meet people, network and grow in confidence, we pair all new staff members and postgraduate research students with an informal ‘buddy’ mentor. This buddy helps individuals adjust to life in York and the University. We are also one of four departments piloting the University’s mentoring and coaching scheme.

The University’s Careers Service offers mentoring for current students and staff, and alumni though the York Profiles and Mentors hub. Here you can search for graduates in career areas and ask them for advice and the possibility of mentoring.
