Abstract: Multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA) has received increasing attention from decision makers, and is being used to support a variety of decisions, including: portfolio optimisation, authorization, reimbursement and prescription. The first part of the seminar will provide a brief introduction to MCDA and summarise its current use in HTA, including case studies. The second part of the seminar will identify challenges faced by the use of MCDA for HTA and potential solutions to these challenges, with a particular emphasis on three topics: the use of additive models; methods for eliciting stakeholders preferences; and how to incorporate opportunity cost into MCDA.
