Speaker(s): Professor Andrew Phillips, University College London
Abstract: In recent years, the number of MSM being diagnosed with HIV in the UK has been at record levels. It is estimated that currently around 3000 MSM are becoming infected with HIV in the UK every year. This talk will describe the use of an individual level simulation model to reconstruct the epidemic, and project forward, in order to provide insights into the role that changes in levels of condomless sex and ART have played in influencing the epidemic, and the likely effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of potential new policies in terms of HIV testing levels and ART initiation criteria. It is hoped that the talk will stimulate discussion to inform future developments of the work.
