The EQ-5D: Is it fit for purpose in oncology trials?

Thursday 8 May 2014, 12.30PM to 1.30pm

Speaker(s): Adam Smith, PhD. KTP Associate/Senior Research Fellow at York Health Economics Consortium Ltd

Abstract: The EQ-5D is a widely used in oncology clinical trials to assess patients' health-related quality of life and for cost-effectiveness calculations. Despite the popularity of the measure there is conflicting evidence in terms of its use in oncology. The talk will draw together the results from a systematic review of the responsiveness of the EQ-5D, as well as a number of empirical studies. The results will conclude that the EQ-5D is not fit for purpose in oncology.
