Which hospital is best at hips?

Thursday 3 November 2011, 2.00PM to 3.15pm

Speaker(s): John Appleby, Chief Economist, Health Policy, The King’s Fund

Abstract: You are a hospital manager and need to improve the productivity of your hospital. What information do you need? Do you know what value your services provide to patients? Do you know at what cost?

New data now being collected from English NHS patients undergoing one of four surgical procedures for the first time provides a basis for assessing the impact of operations on patients’ health related quality of life. Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) could also help hospital managers assess the efficiency of the services they provide.

Location: ARRC Auditorium A/RC/014
